Laura Bucci
Makes: wallets, pouches, eco cup cozies.
Laura’s creative pursuits are rooted in photography. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in photography she also experimented with woodworking, metalsmithing, jewellery, and modern dance. She got into making crafts three years ago when she taught herself to hand and machine knit, crochet, felt, and sew. She has focused on sewing as she sees it as a medium that enables her to be creative. She makes small products as a challenge to see how creative and expressive she can be within a small format.
Laura creates her cotton and linen based products in her home based studio in Vancouver’s Commercial Drive area where she enjoys being surrounded by the different styles of the ecclectic area which range from hippie, to artistic, to just simply practical. Due to her background in photography imagery has always been very important to her work, but more recently she finds herself enjoying the different tacticle qualities of fabric and textile design. She is slowly returning to her roots and is beginning to work with imagery again.
