Melinda’s love of the domestic is a recurring theme in her life and work. When not making art Melinda loves to bake, and her desire to collect old tablewares, tea towels and housewares borders on an obsession (especially pieces by Arabia Finland and Figgio Flint Norway). She appreciates all of the time and detail that went into a lot of handmade goods back when it was harder, or impossible, to get things that were mass produced. She also loves folklore, themes of which are incorporated into a lot of her fine art.

Melinda’s creative impulses were nurtured by her parents from a young age, and they encouraged her to pursue art as a career. She took art all through high school and then continued studying Illustration at Sheridan College near Toronto. She currently makes her work in a shared studio with her boyfriend, who is also an artist.
