Nightjar Books
Designer: Amy Borkwood
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Makes: Handbound books & related projects inspired by book works, such as stationery or woollen brooches.
Amy is self-taught from books borrowed from the library, which is fitting as she came to the craft through a general love of books. She uses reclaimed/reused materials as much as possible in her work, such as reclaimed file folders, recycled and found papers, and reused bookboard. Amy takes inspiration from (among other things), folktale illustration, forests, other local designers, and a hand-cut silhouette of her grandmother. She is actively working towards a lifetime of work in small press publishing. A Nightjar is a little, unassuming owlet-type creature.
